Automations are now on for everyone
Automations have been available in Influx for a while, but until now they’ve been an opt-in feature. As of this release, automations are enabled for all accounts.
What automations do
Automations let you set up rules that run without you thinking about them. When a specific event happens, Influx does something about it. A few examples:
Welcome new members. When someone creates an account, automatically send them a welcome email with your gym’s info, house rules, and what to expect on their first visit.
Catch attendance lapses. When a member hasn’t attended a class in 7 days (or 14, or whatever threshold you set), send them a check-in message. A simple “we noticed you haven’t been in — everything okay?” goes a long way for retention.
Birthday messages. When it’s a member’s birthday, send them a message. It takes zero effort after setup and members notice.
Payment failure alerts. When a payment fails, alert staff so they can follow up before it becomes a chasing problem.
Waiver reminders. When a new member signs up, trigger a waiver request so they complete it before their first session.
How to set them up
Go to Settings > Automations in your club dashboard. You’ll see a list of available triggers (account created, class no-show, attendance lapse, birthday, waiver signed, and more). For each trigger, choose an action — send an email, send a staff notification, or send a push notification.
You can create your own custom automations or start with the defaults we’ve set up. Each automation can include conditions (e.g., only trigger for members in a specific membership type) so you’re not blasting everyone with the same message.
Why we turned it on for everyone
Automations save time. The gyms using them were getting measurable retention improvements from something as basic as a lapse email. There was no good reason to keep it behind a toggle. If you don’t want a particular automation, just disable it — but we’d encourage you to try the basics first. Set up a welcome email and a 7-day lapse check-in. See what happens.
